Parthenogenesis: Patriarchy's Greatest Cover-Up

For many years I wondered about the real reason why earliest patriarchs had created a world that was built on the demonization of women. I was like a dog sniffing for a bone – I just couldn’t let it go. Why would one half of Earth’s population, I kept asking myself, invest so much time, energy, and money trying to exclude and destroy the other? I didn’t buy the line that women were disempowered because they were different, or an easy target - the gentler sex after all. No, there had to be a much deeper reason why patriarchy would go to such extraordinary lengths to render womankind invisible – if someone is powerless, how can they be a threat? I had my suspicions, but they were too left-field to entertain - but entertain them I did. No sooner had I found the courage to open to the unthinkable, than a new, illuminating presence appeared. One night as I journeyed to spirit, an unspeakably beautiful female ancestor named “Coral” introduced herself and told me that she was going to give me all the answers I hungered for. “Charly”, she said, “You are absolutely right. There has been a cover-up - your conclusions are bang on. Mankind has been mixing things and deliberately sitting on the truth of what women truly are.” “Is it to do with women’s power of parthenogenesis?” I asked. “Exactly that”, answered Coral.  “I thought as much”, I added with a sigh. After many days and nights spent with Coral in spirit, the truth is out. It’s a tough pill to swallow – truth all too often comes wrapped that way.

It seems that it isn’t womankind’s lack of power that has got mankind trying to annihilate her, but her gift of it. The old, terror-based, twisted patriarchs who run the Vatican, for example, long ago sealed the door tightly shut on the truth about women being able to reproduce on their own. They’ve kept the secret hidden since their inception by teaching everyone that women are not only inferior, but the cause of humanity's every ill, (Pandora’s Box – more on that later). Christianity blaming women for “original sin” is another way of making the sacred feminine deeply unattractive to dabble with: women who hold a lot of shame are less likely to think themselves worthy enough to start clawing back stolen power and soul. And keeping women out of all positions of power within the church is another obvious way of making sure that women remain too spiritually crippled to even begin “remembering” the magical powers of reproduction that they once knew about. Ever wondered why the Vatican considers the ordination of women within the church as equal in sin to paedophilia within the church? A “demonization of women” technique designed to make damn sure that no one ever discovers that women don’t need men to reproduce.

Picture
There are clues to women’s gift of being able to reproduce “the old way”. The ancient tradition, for example, of the vestal virgins is one of them. In the pre-patriarchal world, women would come together under the guidance of a high priestess and learn how to bring new life into the world through parthenogenesis. The colour associated with vestal virgins was white – it symbolized the purity and heightened frequency needed to conceive this way. What was ancient tradition became “myth”: patriarchs made sure that this knowledge was suppressed – it was deliberately steeped in myth and vagueness to stop anyone picking up the scent.

Patriarchal religious efforts to stop the world knowing about women’s inherent gift of parthenogenesis have their parallels in the wider world: the workplace – another manifestation and creation of patriarchy – has subtle measures in place to disempower any woman who dares to enter it. It’s all part of mankind’s conscious erosion of the feminine spirit: with womankind’s power and soul stolen, they are far less likely to start asking awkward questions.

Picture

Most ancient cultures knew that women could reproduce “the old way”. Ancient patriarchs who built the world of separation - them and us, rich and poor - also knew about it and, in order to assert their power and dominion over everything, destroyed all knowledge of it. The great library at Alexandria, for example, was burnt to the ground by early Christians because it contained recorded texts of the secret history of women’s gift of parthenogenesis. The burning of this great library, it must be remembered, coincided with the rise of Christianity. As the worship of a male-centred God rose to power, Goddess was beaten down in equal measure. Early Christianity’s unrelenting destruction and dismantling of paganism and the worship of Goddess, (it still continues today), was patriarchy’s answer to rendering womankind “amnesiac”. If women themselves had no knowledge of their magical power to procreate, they would see men as necessary and as co-producers, sexually speaking.

Only the patriarchs who built this world of illusion know the truth, though: the average man on the street has been domesticated into believing that women are powerless. To the few hundred embittered and insecure males who control everything, women - contrary to the myth they got started - are not powerless at all, but all powerful. The few hundred males who run the planet are only too aware that women are the secret power behind everything. They know about “the old ways” in which women could “dream in” a new-born. They keep the ancient knowledge deeply hidden and distract the world from the truth through false myth and disinformation. Pandora’s Box does not contain “all of mankind’s ills”, as they would have you believe. Pandora’s Box is a metaphor for the potent magic held within a woman’s womb - the magic that contains both egg and seed to create a new life. Pandora’s Box is the holy grail of reproductive power – it represents the essence of what it means to be female. It represents the power within every woman to become union consciousness itself, and be a channel through which a being of the highest order can enter.

#StreetHarassment

I am sharing this to Angry Devas. Please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts.

By: ~ TVP Jones

Maybe I'll post this as a blog. Felt it necessary to weigh in, although I know several sisters and brothers have done a better job of doing so.

----

So the topic of street harassment has gone viral YEARS after many sisters have been organizing around it on and offline. The video that I'm sure many of you have seen isn't the strongest example, but it is an example. It has it's problems, as all expressions of activism do. The response to it has issues as well, which are indicative of whose voices our society values when a statement is made. A black woman, Jessica Williams, made a similar video on a much larger platform (The Daily Show) that was significantly more equitable. But there were crickets.

I know women who have written articles for Essence, Ebony, The Root, been on panels, and advocated for an end to this form of rape culture WHILE organizing marches for Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown, or while making films to get Ted Wafer arrested for murdering Renisha McBride.

Unfortunately, a lot of brothers in the community have yet again made it their priority to belittle, dismiss, discount, or attempt to silence these stories, to end this discussion. Often this is done under the pretense that black feminists aren't standing against police brutality. Which is counterintuitive, because black women, whether they identify publicly as feminists or not, have been the primary conduit through which social justice organizing has remained on point and consistent since there was any movement to speak of in this country.

Somehow, it is necessary in our community for black women to understand and empathize with black men when our humanity is diminished by stop and frisk, mass incarceration, police brutality, and the myriad forms of institutionalized racism we endure. Black men often empathize to a lesser degree when a black woman faces those very same forms of oppression (see the attention given to any black man killed by the police, and contrast it to the murders of Ayanna Jones and Renisha McBride).

When black women discuss their concerns about safety, how they feel abandoned by us despite their desire to protect us, feel disrespected by the elements of hip-hop we often champion publicly, and when we dismiss their shared experience of street harassment, or any other type of rape culture, we often attack them in response. There is a word for that . Patriarchy. It has many subsets. Sexism is one of them.

Now, some of my leftist and nationalist brothers may get incensed at the idea that we as black men benefit from any system of privilege in America. That reminds me of Bill O'Reily's outrage at the mention of white privilege on the John Stewart show, and failure to identify with it because he grew up working class, and didn't have the same kind of access as wealthy whites.

These points are made out of brotherhood and love. We need to be aware of what we're doing to our women, and how it affects them. They fight for us. They have since we were on plantations picking cotton or cane or coal from can't see in the mornin' till can't see at night. They healed our wounds when we got whipped. They organized when we got lynched. They marched alongside us. They helped us get our shit together when it wasn't. They help us finish school, find jobs, feed families, and raise them. And so much more. They fight for us. And when we are asked to fight for them, many of us turn a cold shoulder and dismiss them because WE feel attacked.

I'm not on a high horse here. Trust, I've made my missteps as a black man toward black women, and TRUST, I've been checked HARD for them. I've also been checked for the missteps of others, and had to learn to listen, and not take it personally. Every now and then, I still fuck up. Just like my white friends who are pretty aware of how they benefit from racism in America fuck up some times too. Part of being human.

Why am I so invested in ending street harassment, patriarchy, and sexism? I'm a son, a cousin, a "brother" (only child y'all), a boyfriend, a teacher, an uncle, a baba, and one day will be a father. I have cousins who are like my little sisters who have been sexually assaulted. My mother told me stories of how she was catcalled as a pre-teen and as a teenager in Hempstead. My cousins are catcalled and street harassed daily. If only this conversation were as personal to more of us, if we could listen with that kind of empathy. I wish my cousins had the kind of courage to step forward and find communal healing in sharing their experiences the way that Jamilah Lemieux, Feminista Jones, Sydnie Mosley, Ekere Tallie, and so many others have.

While thinking of the blacklash our women face while combating patriarchy/sexism in our community, I think about something that Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie shared with me. She introduced me to a quote from the late Amiri Baraka: "All the black women in those militant black organizations deserve the highest praise. Not only did they stand with us shoulder to shoulder against black people's enemies, they also had to go toe to toe with us, battling day after day against our insufferable male chauvinism."

We need to do better, hold ourselves accountable, and not recoil when checked. If we seriously want to improve our people, our condition, we gotta listen and change. Sure, there is plenty of work to do. There are many issues at hand, many battles to fight. But we're a polyrhythmic people, so we're capable of being aware and active on multiple fronts.

"You have to criticize the errors you've made because that's the only way you can break them." - Amiri Baraka.

Challenging the willie lynch "Niggas" The White Man B*tch

Today's broadcast of Angry Deva's brought in a classic case of "white man b*tchism." The "willie lynch nigga" who came into our chatroom today with his "gripe" against feminism came to divide. When Black Wo-men cease allowing men of any race and creed to dance all through their threads, blogs, fan pages, and radio shows, perhaps we can build something that causes Socio-Political change in OUR favor. However, more often than not, black men believe that they should come in, speak and be heard. Black women, too often, are accomodating and make room for them and everyone else. The Angry Deva does not. Period.

I am not here for your feelings, for your opinions on our movements either. I don't particularly give a shyt what men think of femnism, black feminism, radical feminism, black radical separatist feminism or really anything. Men need to concern themselves with the complete eradication of:
  • Rape as a tool of social, political, educational and biological warfare and control of Female Sovereignty.
  • Domestic Violence
  • The abuse of Women in the media for the titilation of the male gaze
  • the constant erasure of females and the Feminine from all spheres and realms of TRUTH and VALIDITY. From religion, to politics, to the media itself as arms of patriarchal dominance.
  • black male prison recidivism
  • black male sexual, political, community TERRORISM against other blacks.

Until we see men making moves on these fronts, and others, i truly could care less about their concerns and views. We have been made to listen to men pontificate, regurgitate and out right obfuscate TRUTH and fiction for centuries. Men of all races.

Black Wombn, as we are the MOTHERS of the Globe, it will be OUR resistance that offers the GREATEST change to the powers that be. This is why we are consistently being divided against self-preservation and self-worth as well as self-esteem. NOTE the key word here is self. When we re-turn to self-centered focus and reaffirm our Rightful Position as God, Priest, Oracle, Shaman, Healer of the globe, as the ORIGINAL MOTHER, the entire WORLD will return to Order from Chaos.
